Personal profile

Personal profile

I am the Director of Female Urology and Urodynamics at the University of Minnesota. My practice entails caring for patients with pelvic organ prolapse, incontinence, pelvic pain, recurrent urinary tract infections, as well as those with spinal cord injuries and neurogenic bladders. Additionally, I conduct research to advance the treatment of these problems. This includes identifying urinary biomarkers that may contribute to urological disease processes, studying alternative and less invasive ways to treat vesicovaginal fistulas, and assessing anatomical factors that predispose and explain certain incontinence problems. I am the PI on a clinical trial to study a non-invasive treatment for stress incontinence. I also value education and play an integral part in teaching residents and medical students about Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstruction through rounds, didactic sessions, and anatomical training labs. Furthermore, I strive to increase public awareness and educate my patients and the public on urological issues in women.
