Project Details
Description
Cryptococcal meningitis is a leading cause of AIDS-related deaths worldwide and can be prevented by
screening for cryptococcal antigen (CRAG) in the blood before onset of meningitis symptoms. CRAG screening
and preemptive treatment per WHO recommendations improves survival, though 30% of CRAG+ persons still
die despite preemptive treatment. The objective of this study is to identify a more clinically effective treatment
strategy for asymptomatic CRAG+ persons that is also cost-effective.
