Abstract
A new genus of Trichomycetes, Pseudoharpella arcolamylica gen. n., sp. n., is described from larvae of Dixa fluvica Peters collected from a spring run along the Saint Croix River at Arcola Mills near Marine on Saint Croix, Minnesota, USA. Larvae of D. fluvica in this stream were continuously infested throughout the year, but had highest infestation rates and largest growths within their hindguts during October through April. Fungal hyphae, some with mature trichospores, were recovered seasonally from third and fourth instars. Zygospores were only recovered from mature fourth instar larvae during October and November. Immature thalli lacking mature trichospores, but presumed to be P. arcolamylica, were found only sporadically in populations of D. fluvica collected from two other spring-fed streams near Arcola Mills.
