Abstract

A non-enzymatic electrochemical sensor based on heat-shrinkable polymer was fabricated for the first time. We sputtered a gold film on the polymer, heated it to shrink, and detected the uric acid concentration in water. A wrinkled gold surface which led to great performance improvement was achieved. Notably, A selectivity enhancement towards glucose was experimentally observed, and explained with a new theoretical proposal. The reaction control scheme proposed can be projected to tailor the sensor properties of other bio-sensors.
