Abstract

This paper presents a standby power supply (SPS) system which provides the combined Junctions of power backup and load-current harmonic neutralization. The system is based on a four switch JGBT inverter which is operated in either a voltage or current mode. The voltage mode uses traditional fixed-frequency PWM control The current mode uses an adaptive tolerance band scheme to achieve fixed-frequency. This paper discusses the design tradeoffs for the current mode control and presents performance data for a 120 volt, 25 amp (peak) single phase system.
