N2 - Although proprietary devices for the treatment of stormwater are used in many urban areas as best management practices (BMPs), their cost has prompted the Minnesota Department of Transportation (DOT) to consider the use of standard sumps to meet stormwater quality goals. However, no data on the effectiveness of sediment removal and proper operation of the sumps exist. Such data is necessary for standard sumps to be considered as a stormwater pretreatment device in Storm Water Pollution Prevention Program regulations.
