Abstract
The literature review aims to consolidate the different assessment tools and types of therapies that are used to enhance motor skills in elderly people living with dementia. This paper follows the PRISMA formatting and checklist. Dementia is a clinical state occurring at later stages of human life whereby the elderly experience not only a decline in cognitive function, such as loss of memory and judgment, but also in complex motor skills and functionality, leading to a decline in independent performance in activities of daily living and therefore, a deterioration in the quality of life. Our focus for this literature review is on the decline of motor skills, with the objective of identifying effective tools for assessment and therapies that can be implemented for improving the motor and process skills of elderly people living with moderate to severe dementia.
