Abstract
When in the clinical management of children with defective hearing we speak of children with learning difficulties, this is really a very superficial diagnosis which cannot stand up to an accurate analysis. Such auditory defects are only apparent, and in children with learning difficulties are referrable to tactile kinaesthetic, intermodal, serial or combined difficulties of perception. The therapy of such children cannot, therefore, consist of training of the hearing, but must be aimed at promoting the tactile kinaesthetic, intermodal or serial performance in conformity with the child's development.
