Abstract

Medical expert systems are the latest tool technology offers the physician today. Containing detailed knowledge in a particular subject area, each system provides information to support diagnostic or treatment decisions more efficiently than has been previously possible., Such systems do not replace physician decision making but enhance it. An excellent example of the capabilities of such a system can be found in one designed to deal with the problems of hypertension in the elderly.
