Abstract
Dose buildup characteristics of 60Co, 4-MV and 10-MV x-ray mantle fields were assessed using a modified Rando phantom. The results indicate that whereas 10-MV x rays spare the normal subcutaneous tissues more, the dose builds up to about 90% of the midline dose within a depth of 0.5 cm. The effect of shadow-tray placement is discussed.
