Abstract
Tunneling into the c-direction of single crystals of YBa2Cu3O7−x has been studied using a scanning tunneling microscope with a tungsten tip in a tunneling rather than a point contact mode. A wide range of values of voltage associated with the feature in the I–V characteristic generally associated with the energy gap have been observed. This feature was never observed above 50K in any crystal.
