Abstract
The curriculum associated with nursing informatics (NI) education is not standardized, therefore the perspectives of new and emerging nurse informaticians is important. How these curricula differences affect career opportunities of new nursing informaticians, and in turn influenced current career choices will be explored. Synthesizing opinions with themes extracted from a 2014 international study-Advancing nursing informatics in the next decade: Recommendations from an international survey will be summarized.

His particular focus is on clinical decision support, standardized health terminologies, and data and text mining. In the past, Dr. Topaz was involved with health policy (national and international levels), leadership (e.g. Chair of the Students Working Group with International Medical Informatics Association) and health entrepreneurship. Dr. Topaz also has clinical experience in internal and urgent medicine. He received his Masters and Baccalaureate degrees from the University of Haifa, PhD from the University of Philadelphia. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Harvard Medical School and Brigham Women's Hospital.
