title = "Estimation of isometric recruitment curves in human quadriceps muscle",
abstract = "Four methods to estimate isometric recruitment curves of electrically stimulated muscle were compared to the conventional steady-state step response method by testing on the quadriceps muscle group of able-bodied human subjects. The methods were peak impulse response, ramp deconvolution via a critically-damped, second-order system, ramp deconvolution via an impulse response and ramp response shifted by correlation. Results showed that estimate variation depended on the measurement and post-processing technique; however, the ramp methods all appeared to offer acceptable accuracy and eliminated the problem of fatigue. The correlation method was simplest and easiest to process. The impulse method was less repeatable and often differed in slope from the other methods.",
