Abstract

The efficiency of various plasma actuator designs have been compared using power and thrust measurements. Dielectric thickness is found to have the most significant effect on the plasma actuator performance compared to other factors such as electrode shape. ICCD camera visualization studies of the Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD) discharge indicate that the degree of discharge asymmetry between half cycles is linearly related to the thrust.
