Abstract

Gastroparesis is a syndrome defined by specific symptomology, such as nausea, vomiting, and early satiety, combined with delayed gastric emptying without gastric ulceration or mechanical outlet obstruction. Various treatments, from medication to behavioral treatments, exist. For patients with refractory symptoms, gastric stimulation may be an option. This chapter describes the clinical presentation, anatomy, diagnosis, indication, evidence, procedure technique, and complications of gastric stimulation.
