Abstract

Many countries in the world have started to pursue for low-carbon transportation. Built environment interventions and transportation programs have become prevailing strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. As one of the seminal series on “Advances in Transport Policy and Planning,” this book synthesizes the knowledge of land use and transport planning and their integration worldwide. We grouped the chapters in this book into three parts. Part I focuses on the impacts of land use and transportation programs on travel behavior. Part II elaborates on the movements of planning effort for urbanity and associated implications for transportation. Part III highlights research and practices pertinent to integrated transport and land use planning, particularly transit-oriented development. These chapters will help guide the development of research and practices in this field for years to come.
