Helium-vapor dynamics: Can BEC be produced in a moving frame without confinement?

Abstract

We report hydrodynamic, gas dynamics, and ballistic calculations to explore the conditions under which He4 vapor could be made to exhibit Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) in a reference frame moving with respect to the laboratory frame. We do not find any conditions of free expansion in which BEC can be produced.
