Abstract

The kinetics of the aqueous phase reaction between ozone and 2,4,6-trichlorophenol was studied in this work using a wetted-sphere absorber. Ozone absorption rates into an aqueous solution of trichlorophenol were interpreted to give an expression for the second-order kinetic rate constant as k2 = 8.19 × 1021 exp(-11630/T) l/g mol s. Stoichiometry experiments showed that one mole of ozone reacts with one mole of 2,4,6-trichlorophenol.
