Abstract

An incremental variational inequality is described for frictional contact problems with the consideration that the contacting bodies are elasto-plastic and deformed with large strain and large rotation, where the Jaumann stress rate and updated Lagrangian coordinates are employed to handle geometric nonlinearities. The methodology is valid for three dimensional frictional contact manufacturing applications; however, for purposes of illustration of the proposed techniques, attention is confined to two-dimensional or axial-symmetric problems under elasto-plastic large deformation.
