Abstract

The efficient production and distribution of dental manpower is essential if optimal levels of dental services are to be available to the public. These manpower responsibilities can be met best if they are undertaken in full awareness of the dynamics of the manpower marketplace. Those dynamics can be properly interpreted only if the marketplace itself is functioning efficiently. Recent history seems to indicate that the market for health manpower has not been functioning efficiently and that planners and administrators have not always had access to current information which was relevant to their decisions.
