title = "Particle tracking method of kinetically adsorbing solutes in heterogeneous porous media",
abstract = "A particle tracking approach is presented for simulating field scale transport of kinetically adsorbing solutes. The chemical kinetic non-equilibrium is modeled as a birth and death process and is coupled with the particle tracking approach by using the first two moments of the particle waiting times spent in the liquid phase. The total fraction of the adsorbed solute at any time and position is then analytically determined from the computed transition probabilities. The use of a birth and death process is especially attractive since it can be easily extended to the case of multi component chemical reactions and exhibits moderate computational requirements.",
