Abstract
Application of a technique of reflex cough stimulation in the postoperative period by means of a percutaneous intratracheal catheter is described. This method has been found most satisfactory in eliciting effective clearing of the small air passages and elimination of serious postoperative pulmonary complications, without trauma to the upper respiratory tract and with good tolerance by the patient.
