Abstract

Peptide and peptidomimetic biosensors can be used in combination with a mass spectrometry-based readout to measure or report highly diverse information from biological systems. For example, these biosensors can help us understand reaction mechanisms, assign enzyme substrates, detect ligand interactions, serve as diagnostic tools, and measure enzymatic activity in vitro and in vivo. This chapter highlights and summarizes major recent contributions in this field and includes a detailed protocol as a working example.
