In the version of the article initially published, three references were missing from the “Female aging after menopause” section and have now been added as references 32, 42 and 44: Davis, S. R., Pinkerton, J., Santoro, N. & Simoncini, T. Menopause–biology, consequences, supportive care, and therapeutic options. Cell19, 4038–4058 (2023); Wood, B. M. et al. Demographic and hormonal evidence for menopause in wild chimpanzees. Science382, 368–369 (2023) and Winkler, I. & Goncalves, A. Do mammals have menopause? Cell186, 4729–4733 (2023). The changes have been made to the HTML and PDF versions of the article.
