Abstract

Production of polyurethanes, polyurethane-ureas and polyureas by reaction injection molding, RIM, is now an established process. An understanding of the interactions between processing parameters and properties of the resulting polymer is vital to the growth of RIM. RIM generally involves fast, exothermic reactions and the development of the structure is constrained by the polymerization condition. In this work, we have studied the effects of catalysis in amine extended and all- amine linear systems on the properties and structure of these systems. The kinetic behavior of the polymerization has been studied by the adiabatic reactor method.
