Abstract
Novel data from complimentary experimental and computational studies are presented for shock/boundary layer interactions induced by a sharp fin in an axisymmetric configuration. Fin configurations of 5°, 10°, 12°, 14°, and 20° were tested in a Mach number of 3 while mounted to a half-cylinder with a 100-mm outer diameter. RANS simulations are currently underway using a grid developed for this axisymmetric configuration. Flow visualizations with aluminum oxide show the presence of primary separation, but do not indicate definite existence of primary reattachment or secondary separation/reattachment.
