Stacked central configurations: New examples in the planar five-body problem

Abstract

The main result of this paper is the existence of a new family of planar five-body central configurations. This family is unusual in that it is a stacked central configuration, i.e. a subset of the points also form a central configuration, in this case, the Lagrange equilateral solution to the three-body problem.
