I was honored and humbled by the invitation from Drs. Whitaker, Stover, and Grasso to write this commentary. For the past 15 years, I have focused my research on IPV, child maltreatment, and co-occurring forms and types of family and interpersonal violence; and, I hope each study has advanced the field in a meaningful way. I am in awe of the editors and authors who contributed to this special issue and admire their efforts to engage in research that contributes to the goal of creating a more integrated and comprehensive understanding of family violence. I learned so much from these scholars through this process. The author received no financial support for the research, authorship, and/or publication of this article.
