Abstract

Breast cancer is the most common type and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in women. As one of the deadliest cancers, treating breast cancer requires the development of efficacious drugs and improved therapeutic strategies. However, the development of new drugs is extremely time-consuming and costly. Thus, identifying new uses of existing nononcology or oncology drugs in treating breast cancer is becoming an important step toward developing better treatment strategies and improving overall outcomes. In this chapter, we discuss some of the successful cases of drugs that were repositioned and highlight the scope of new approaches and novel candidates that are being currently studied.
