Abstract

The survival of Salmonella anatum, pseudorabies virus (PRV), and porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) in swine slurry was studied at different temperature (4°C, 25°C, and 37°C) and pH (4.0. 7.0, and 10.0) conditions. The longest survival of S. anatum (56 days) was observed at 4°C and pH 7.0. The pseudorabies and the PRRS viruses also survived the longest at 4°C and pH 7.0 but were inactivated within 8 and 14 days, respectively.
