Treatment of PCB-contaminated sediment from New Bedford Harbor using the electrochemical geooxidation process

Abstract

A large sample of sediment containing PCB, dredged from New Bedford Harbor, MA, was secured for test at the Electro Petroleum Inc, Coleraine Test Facility through the cooperation of the EPA. This sample was subjected to treatment using the ElectroChemical GeoOxidation process and the results to date for that testing program are presented. A series of analyses evaluating the decrease in concentration of the various PCB congeners and the mechanism by which they are destroyed is inferred. The progress to date in this study is also presented. This is an abstract of a paper presented in the 229th ACS National Meeting (San Diego, CA 3/13-17/2005).
